B&W Snow Day

The first big snow of the year captured in black and white.

He inherited the "tongue concentration face" from his Dad.

20 things about me

A friend on Instagram tagged me to share 20 things about myself. I don't have a lot to share, but here goes!

1. I was born in Saskatoon, SK. My family moved to the US when I was in the second grade.

2.  I got my bachelors degree in textiles and clothing, focusing on fashion merchandising. I don't ever plan to pursue a career in the fashion industry.

3. I have an affinity for expensive things.     Quality > Quantity

4. I grew up skiing in the Rocky Mountains. I haven't gone to the mountains in the past 5 years.

5. I can figure skate. Jumps and all.
I met my husband at the OSU ice rink where I basically lived during my college years.

6. I've become a total "crunchy mom". Breastfeeding, babywearing, co-sleeping.

7. I'm a stay-at-home mom and I love every minute of it.

8. I secretly wish I were a photographer. I work on my skill every single day.

9. I keep trying to quit pop. Diet Cherry 7up was a game changer for me.

10. I stole this quote from my mom's friend, but it describes me to a T. " If it's worth doing, it's worth overdoing".  Why make one batch of cookies when you could make 5?

11. I watch the same movies and tv shows over and over again. This drives my husband insane.

12. I'm terrified of the dark.

13. I think Buddhism is fascinating and is a concept I can best relate to.

14. I use The Secret to manifest my desires. It works. Look it up. It will change your life.

15. We have one car (by choice) and I love it this way. I strive to keep life simple.

16. I was a vegetarian most of my life. I went vegan a year ago and tried to give away all of my leather goods (Gucci bag, anyone?). Luckily, my husband put a stop to that. I was thankful a few days later. I'll eventually go back to a vegan diet once my love affair with goat cheese ends.

17. I love to decorate. I rearrange furniture on a daily basis.

18. I am infatuated with beautiful fabrics. Especially ones with a lot of texture, like raw silk.  I have my college education to thank for that.

19. One of my very best friends lives in North Carolina. We haven't seen each other since high school, but we text every single day.

20. Lipstick and mascara can change the course of your entire day. I mean it.

Santa's Pancake Breakfast

Today we were lucky enough to be invited to a pancake breakfast with Santa Claus. It was the perfect way to spend our Saturday morning. The infamous Chris Cakes catered and we had so much fun catching our pancakes as the chef launched the little buggers at us quicker than we could pick up our plates. Many pancakes hit the floor, resulting in a few tears, but it was a lot of fun. Even Santa and Mrs. Claus tried their hand at pancake catching.  As usual, you will find a few too many pictures documenting our most splendid morning kicking off the holiday season.

Pancake meltdown. The syrup was NOT supposed to be on the pancake. Also, his pancake is broken.

My Dad with Hazel.

My lovely husband. A rare opportunity to snap a candid photo of him.

Hugh's "girlfriend", Jacie, insisted on being part of our family photo.
